For the fourth year in a row, Macy’s is partnering with The Make-A-Wish Foundation® and collecting letters to Santa. For every letter received, Macy’s will donate $1 to The Make-A-Wish Foundation®, up to $1 million.
Inspired by The New York Sun’s famous “Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus” editorial from 1897, Macy’s stores across the country feature letter-writing Believe Stations and Santa Mail letterboxes for believers of all ages to write their letters to Santa.
Create your letter to Santa online with Macy’s easy-to-use tool at macys.com/believe! After creating your letters and decorating them with fun icons, print the letters and bring them to any Santa Mailbox at Macy’s Believe Stations. Remember – for every letter sent to Santa, Macy’s will donate $1 to The Make-A-Wish-Foundation, up to $1 million! And while you’re at Macy’s, stop by Santaland to see the Big Man himself!
When I was a little girl there were little Santa houses that we would visit. Every year the Santa house was in a new location. We would line up and wait to sit upon Santa’s lap and he would give us a small toy. Every year I remember the toy was the same. A very small and extremely starved (skinny) barbie doll-like toy. I have to search my memory bank real hard to envision the exact looks of these small dolls but if someone flashed one in my front of me right now I would be taken aback. The boys received something besides a doll..thank goodness, huh. However, since I did not have brothers and have never been a boy, myself, I don’t remember what toy they got. We live in a small community and going to visit Santa in a mall is not always an option..wasn’t then and somethings never change. Unfortunately though Mr. Santa and his ‘house’ are no more. They stopped having Santa come to town so many years ago I can’t remember the last time I saw the setup here. Too bad because I would have loved to take my kids and relish in the memory with them.
So if we can’t go down the street and enjoy the Santa we can rely on Macy’s never changing tradition and visit Santa. And as a special treat in stores this year, believers of all ages can take their photos with the characters from the animated holiday classic, “Yes, Virginia.” Visit any Macy’s Believe Station to pose for holiday photos with Virginia and her friends – and don’t miss Macy’s celebrated Santalands to pose with Santa himself!
To celebrate with Macy’s they are offering one Believe Snowglobe for giveaway, a $40 value-on sale now for $17.99. Visit Macy’s on Facebook and Create Your Letter and upload a photo for a chance to be the Believer of The Week. For more info about Macy’s Believe: http://m80.com/m/c5k
