Review: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse I (heart) Minnie on DVD

My youngest, age 3, is pretty obsessed with Minnie Mouse. It’s cute. She has big Minnie Mouse stuffed toys and small ones..10 all together (I do believe). She is a tad confused though. For some reason for the last month she has been calling Minnie “Daisy”. “No”, I say “her name is Minnie Mouse, not Daisy”. Humph..she stomps off “her name is Daisy..” in a silent yet scary voice. At this point my husband is throwing a look at me like “choose your battles, women”. So, in our house (and for the moment) we are referring to Minnie Mouse as Daisy. Not sure what Daisy’s name is but whatever.

Because I’m that girl that starts celebrating her birthday 2 weeks prior (these days it is to syc myself up for turning a year older) then lasting a few days after I’m def that girl that spends all month on Valentines. I have four kids, as most of you know, and a husband + no pets, my daughter’s birthday on the 12th and my nieces birthday on the 10th, so I defiantly have a lot to love this month.

I’m a Picky Eater Family:

I’m picky, my kids are picky, hub’s is picky and we are grateful to E-mealz optional meal plans. We are on our 4th week using E-Mealz and what I love most so far: they email you your weekly meal plan and grocery list. If you are using the traditional menu it will include your total cost for the week as well. Awesome! Take the advice of a busy mama of four that is always budgeting and in need of a little extra help. E-mealz does all the work for you, meal planning, calculating the cost, easy print and go shopping lists, if only they would come a cleanup after each meal I’d be really spoiled. But that wouldn’t be fair, besides the kids can clean up

I chose the Vegetarian Family Meal Plan that offers 7 meals for the week for a family of 5-7. Now, not everyone in my family is meatless lovers like moi but most are so picky I wasn’t sure they would eat any of these meals. So for a picky eater family this will make for an interesting review. My friend, who introduced me to e-mealz, will offer her input as well (she doesn’t know that yet!). She is on her 4th month, which means after her 3 month subscription she renewed. That has to be good news.

Family Game Night with all new TABOO (review & giveaway)

The game with unexpected fun is an understatement. I’m a game girl. I like to play, win, and win some more. People playing with me either love me or hate me, depending on which side their on. As a child I grew up playing cards, board games, and trivia games because that is what my family did. We did not have game systems (they were around but we weren’t interested) and we spent a lot of time together. We had to do something and gaming it was. Now I have to tell you this, I shouldn’t, but most of my family doesn’t read this blog (I know..the support is overwhelming right?). We cannot CAN NOT bring up the word: Taboo in front of my aunt and uncle. Why? There was a huge fight over the game years ago..I think I was around 17 years old and we all wondered if a divorce would be the result of Taboo. It involved a sore looser and no it wasn’t her. Actually I was telling my husband about it and he couldn’t remember the fight. Then on Saturday we were playing it, my parents came over later and I said “hey I got the new Taboo game”. I watched as a chill ran through her body. Don’t mention it to “you know who”. Mkay, I won’t. Now, I don’t want you thinking Taboo is the only game there has been feuds with in this family but that one sticks out as we all watched it go down before our eyes.

Now that I have that off my chest on to the new Taboo.

TABOO, everyone’s favorite game of forbidden words, has gotten a makeover in 2011! Now with a new, sleek look, game changing die and hysterical “Uh-Oh!” buzzer sound, players will frantically try to get their teammates to guess the winning word without using the Taboo words and phrases on their card. How do you get your team to say the word “heart throb” without saying “teenage,” “idol,” “star” or “movies”? With more than 1,000 words for players to try to guess, the “unspeakable” fun can continue for hours.

How To Play:

Each player helps the team guess a specific word on a card without using the words that are off limits. Be careful. Opponents will be listening for the TABOO words that can’t be used in game play. Each time a team hears a TABOO word they can sound the new “Uh-Oh!” buzzer, signaling that the opposing team’s turn is up! But if team members guess the word before the buzzer sounds, a point is won. And now a new game changing die adds even more excitement to the game, forcing players to do things like not speak or use their hands on their turn!

For Adults, however I played with my 8 and 10 year old. 8 year old struggled but the 10 year old was pretty good and I find this a good tool for keep their minds sharp.

What I love about the new game: sleek new box design, the new buzzer, new trivia q’s, dice ..roll and you may get a chance with your p (in other words partner) for TWO minutes and other exciting options. Every time I play Taboo once I see the card and the key words you CAN NOT say that’s all I can think about saying. It can be tricky but I’m a true Taboo winner because I use personal situations to get my partner to guess. Have you seen the movie Four Christmases with Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn? In one part of the movie the family is playing Taboo and the married ghetto couple were kicking butt with their weird ways to get the other to guess the word. It was genius. My husband and I were doing that last weekend and totally in sync and winning. He even winked at me once, it was hot.

Must Have Denim for Spring 2012 with Level99

Denim is a staple in my wardrobe anytime of the year, so I find its a must to talk about what types of denim will be on my “must have” list this spring. I’ve always been a pretty “classic” denim person, but I’m actually (finally) breaking out of my shell and going bold this season. If you still aren’t sure about the bold denim colors of the season, then definitely consider these light ones Lily Skinny Straight shown in Hyde wash

Besides skinny jeans, you also need to consider having a pair of boyfriend jeans. This style is so comfortable, it makes it easy to put them on for a quick run to the store or out shopping with your friends. Pair them with flats or ankle boots/booties and you’re good to go.

Level 99 sent me a package of fun spring denim that I couldn’t wait to try out. I received two pairs of ultra skinnies in aqua and lipstick AND two pairs of skinny straights in Larkin and Adams wash. I wasn’t sure how these would fit me, because I wasn’t familiar with Level99′s sizing. Lucky for me, they are very true-to-size and fit me just like my other size 27 jeans do. So, if you are considering a pair for yourself. I’d go with your normal denim size. Both styles are stretchy, so they will give a little if you aren’t sure. The skinnies fit me skin tight, like a jegging. I love how comfortable they are and now soft they are to touch. The skinny straights are more like a skinny jean but are still stretchy and extremely comfortable, too! The biggest different is in the ankle. The skinny straights do have that very slight bag to the ankle. I absolutely love my Level99′s and plan to make these my “go to” jeans now and once the weather warms up.

Buttercream Frosting Secret

Secret Secret, I got a Secret. Whoot Whoot. Ok, so this lady I work with used to bake cakes and pies for a restaurant near my town that just happens to be my fave. She told me a little buttercream frosting secret. Add corn syrup.

Buttercream Frosting Secret

Ingredients

3 cups Powdered Sugar
1 cup (2 sticks) Unsalted Butter
2 TBLS Whipping Cream
1-2 tsp Pure Vanilla
1/2 tsp Almond Extract
1-2 tsp Corn Syrup

Instructions

Whip 1 cup butter in a standing mixer or large deep bowl (have towel handy to hand over bowl to avoid splatters). Add 1 cup of sugar at a time. Add whipping cream, vanilla, and almond, then add corn syrup for perfect consistency
Enjoy! Lick the bowl! Wait an hour before telling family you made it!

Cardigans are also a must this season and the perfect way to transition to those warmer months ahead! I love this coral color and the stripes make it so much fun.

Another one of my must have pieces this spring is definitely a wrap dress. This style is flattering on everyone and can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. I love this zebra print, too! Add a bright, bold clutch and/or some bright accessories and you are ready.

Karen Kane sent me two fun pieces to get me ready for spring, too! I received the Runway Tee Shirt and the Color Block V Neck.

I was so excited to get this package in the mail, I couldn’t wait to see how these items looked in person. I was not disappointed, either. Both tops look amazing in person (although the model on their site looks gorgeous in every, single item, too!) and are so soft to touch. You can immediately tell that the items Karen Kane designs and produces are top notch and you can see how she became such a well respected designer and brand. Both tops I received in a size medium and fit me very well, so they are pretty true-to-size. They are both a baggier cut/fit so if you are debating on what size to order I’d go with the smaller one. My Runway Tee is perfect to wear out with the girls with a pair of black skinnies or even with a bold pair of blue or pink jeggings, too! My Color Block V Neck has that touch of sports feel to it, while still being very feminine.
